India has one-third population of oral cancer patients worldwide and also Endo-Perio diseases are common in India which are difficult to treat and have expensive costs.
🎯 Project Objectives
To determine antibacterial efficiency of standard extract of Broccoli & Kale against common Endo-Perio pathogens Enterococcus faecalis and Tanerella forsythia.
To determine anticancer efficiency of standardized extract of Broccoli and Kale against Oral cancer KB cell line and its anti-proliferative property against L929 normal human fibroblast.
🌟 Project Results
Extracts of Broccoli and Kale can be used as a controlled delivery mechanism.
It has potential to be least cytotoxic as compared to the traditional medications available.
Anticancer treatment can be made easily accessible due to the indigenous nature and high thrust potential of broccoli and kale.
Establishment of novel drug delivery system carrying same formulation for use of oral pre-cancer/ cancer treatment in the form of a buccal patch/ buccal band-aid/ use of transformeres for targeted and novel drug delivery.
🏆 Awards and recognition
Shivani was awarded by ICMR for her research work.
She was offered a short-term studentship programme under ICMR by Department of Public Health for her research work.
👨🎓 About Shivani Chate
Shivani Chate hails from Latur in Maharashtra,and later, she went to Terna Dental College in Navi Mumbai to pursue dentistry.
Currently,she is working on a research project under health department in the field of dentistry.
